Township Board Meetings
are held on the second Tuesday of each month
at 7:00 p.m., unless posted otherwise.
Over the next several years the Township will be working to replace the old water meters for all the residents on the water system. At some time in the next several years expect a visit from someone that will be working on replacing your water meter.

You can also pay your water and tax bills on the website for a fee.
A Note from the Assessor’s Office
If you would like to split or combine property, please
submit ALL requests to the Township on/or before December 1st. Property audits are starting, please remember
it is possible that a field auditor will visit your property to perform an
exterior inspection. The July Board of Review will be meeting
Wednesday, July 17th at 11am to correct qualified errors. No appeals will be heard at that
meeting. It has been my pleasure to

now has a website with a lot of County information available to our residents.
You can now pay delinquent taxes by going to the County
website and using the link for the Treasurer on the left-hand side. You will then go the bottom of the page for
the link to delinquent taxes. There is a
$2.00 fee to pay your delinquent taxes using this site.
There is also a link on the County homepage where you can
look up assessment and tax information for any property in Arenac County. You will look at the links on the left-hand for
the Equalization Department. Once you
are there go the bottom of the page to the link for property assessments and
Vehicles on the Beaches
Please be advised that it is a Michigan State Law, that you cannot drive a motorized vehicle on any beach in the State of Michigan. Call the Sheriff, DEQ, DNR, or State Police to report violations.
Please do not put unstamped mail in the Township’s US Postal Mailbox. Please drop bills in drop box by the Township Hall door. If unstamped mail is put in mailbox it is picked up and held by the post office until postage is paid

RESIDENTS THERE IS FREE COMPOST AVAILABLE AT THE TRANSFER STATION. FEEL FREE TO GO AND PICK SOME UP WHEN THE
TRANSFER STATION IS OPEN.
A $30.00 fee will be collected for each
check returned to the Township for lack of funds and/or closed account.

number for water bills or tax ID number for taxes. This will help us credit your payment to the
In Arenac County you must keep your dogs
under control. Call Animal Control at
(989) 846-4421 to report loose dogs.
You must check with the DNR, at 866-922-2876
or at the DNR website www.michigan.gov/burnpermit
to see if permits are being issued for our
Township before starting a fire.
If you have a problem with mosquitos call
APM Mosquito Control at (989) 426-2420.
Keep in mind weather conditions factor into when spraying is done, also.
1. Building Permits
The following steps must be taken to obtain a Building Permit:
1. Contact the Zoning Administrator for a land use permit. At that time, it
will be determined if your project conforms to our Township Zoning.
2. When building a new home, and with some additions, a Septic Permit will be
required. You will get this from the Arenac County Health Department.
3. You must then obtain a Building Permit from the Arenac County Building
Department, located in the County Building in Standish.
The Township has a new Zoning Administrator, Michael Fil. His contact
information is on the front of the newsletter. He has taken over the job, as
Ernest Kata has retired from Whitney Township.
Please call the Township Hall when changing your mailing addresses. This will
help to keep our records up to date so you will receive your billings in a
The Township is always looking for people to
sit on Planning Commission, Zoning Board of Appeals, and Board of Review.
We are also looking for people interested in working Elections. All these
positions do receive a small salary.
